Surviving The Covid (Belly) Spread

Portrait of young athlete in the city

Have you noticed your jeans getting tighter?

Well it’s no wonder. Life is rather upside down with the Coronavirus: habits have changed, you don’t leave the house like before and stress is through the roof!

And regular exercise? Give me a break. It takes even more effort and planning.

This is where comfort food and alcohol come in. Where the bag of chips and caramel popcorn come in – not as a reward but just to make you feel better. And other food we know we “shouldn’t” but kind of feel hopeless with the situation and do it anyway. Or maybe you’ve mastered healthier foods but have not been paying close attention to the portions or knowingly grab a second helping – not so much ‘cuz you’re hungry – but just because.

And afterwards, then what? If you’re like me, you feel crappy. Then the guilt. Feels somewhat pointless and hopeless as so many are struggling.

But there is a point – YOU and your quality of life, starting with how you feel now and the potential of how much better you could feel by taking little steps.

Those little decisions you make, if mindful and conscious decisions to do “this” or not, sets your future in motion. And luckily it’s never too late to change the road you’re on!

But what is going to help you the most to see your belly start to trim down? Help you not look at those extra pounds with distain?

During our last Sweet People Club’s Office Hours, we discussed just that. What approach helps best? The answer is found in what will actually work for you with skilled guidance. Yep, it’s individualized.

I got to thinking about how many people who are just getting diagnosed with prediabetes and type 2 right before the pandemic that now feel stranded. And also those of us who were diagnosed a while ago but feel pretty lost and/or certainly unmotivated.

UNMOTIVATED. Yes, who’s with me?

COVID has really done a number on all of us. And we can collectively hold each other up. Together we can inspire motivation. I mean, isn’t it easier to get things done when you don’t have to carry the burden alone? Like if you go for a walk that you’ve scheduled with a buddy (yes, wearing a mask), you’re more likely to actually go for that walk. And it sure feels great when you do some self-care.

We get it. And we want to be here to lean on. Sweet People Club wants to help you find your mojo and get back some motivation. Through Memorial Day 5/25/20, I decided to offer the monthly membership at more than half off for a couple of months to help you get started – that’s less than the cost of an HBO subscription. You can get the right information and support, not only from our diabetes care and education specialists but as important, from people living with high sugar who know what it’s like day in and day out, and who share what works for them. These insights can give you ideas that can be the thing that really helps.

So, instead of $27/month, this limited offer to help you get started is only $12.95 a month for your first 2 months. You get 8 lessons, access to over 100 videos and several real-time access to a dietitian during our regular Office Hours. You can see how much better you feel and how your numbers improve and then you can decide if you want to continue.  Why? My heart is in this (so is my pancreas!) and I really want you to see for yourself how the Sweet People Club can help you like it has many. And you don’t even have to cancel Netflix to afford this unprecedented access to quality diabetes prevention and care!  And know you can cancel anytime with no hoops to jump through.

Here is the link to enroll. Please do by 5/25.

Together we can survive the Covid Belly Spread! Even tighten the belt a notch or two. Hope to see you on the inside.

Stay sweet and stay strong fellow Sweet Peeps!
